ARTIFICIAL GRASS IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE BASE
Artificial Grass is only as good as the base its installed on,
The base required for artificial grass is typically a compacted, crushed gravel or stone layer, topped with a layer of sand.
The base must be level, stable and able to support the weight of the artificial grass, as well as provide adequate drainage to prevent pooling of water.
The thickness of the base depends on the specific use of the artificial grass and local conditions, but is typically around 4-6 inches.
It's crucial to properly prepare the base to ensure long-lasting, seamless integration of the artificial grass
The artificial grass itself should be fully permeable so rainwater can run straight through it to the sub-base.
Good quality artificial grass, when installed correctly, should drain rainwater through a drainage base below the leveling layer, through it to the sub-base.

A hard edge (i.e. a pathway, concrete gravel boards from a fence, or a patio) around the perimeter of your lawn is essential to prevent your artificial grass from sinking, as the sub-base and laying course must be retained to prevent them from subsiding.
INFILL (TOPPING)
The whole idea of artificial grass is for it to provide you and your family with a beautiful looking lawn that is mud and mess free, whilst also requiring very little maintenance. The purpose of infill is to help the grass blades stand up, or return back to their intended upright position after they have been exposed to pressure. Additionally, infill will help to shield the backing used on Replica Grass from the damage that is caused by UV rays. Infill also mimics the impact absorption qualities of the soil under real grass.
During hot summer days, a potential problem with some lower quality artificial grasses is that it can become hot to touch, silica sand works by reflecting sunlight, which in turn reduces heat absorption, helping to keep your lawn cooler.
There are many infill options to use, the main one being silica sand, the sand infill also acts like ballast, it weighs down the grass and prevents it from rippling and being lifted and follows the lie of the land.

Silica sand is the most common and cost efective infill product as a ballast to artificial turf. An approximate amount of 5 Kilogram of Silica Sand per square metre of artificial grass is required as infill. it is very important to note that the layer of sand infill is supports the protection from UV rays from the sun, which ultimately means your artificial grass will remain stunning for an extended period of time
Acrylic coated sand is another popular choice when it comes to artificial grass infill. The “Microban”, antimicrobial protection, is built into Envirofill during the manfucaturing process as a preventative measure against the bacteria and microbes that can cause heinous smells, deplorable stains and negative effects on the integrity of your artificiall grass.
An approximate amount of 5 Kilogram per square metre of artificial grass is required as infill.
Zeofill is a popular infill choice by pet owners. Zeofill is 100% natural and is a resource that comes straight from the planet. Zeofill’s negatively charged honey-comb molecular design makes it different from all other infills. This molecular form allows it to absorb urine while trapping in the ammonia gases that cause the foul odor from pet pee! Zeofill will scientifically suppress and hold onto the gases until water releases it and removes the absorbed mess from the infill. It will continue to hold the gases until heavy rainfall washes over and carries all the odor and bacteria away through the artificial grass leaving the zeofill. An approximate amount of 4-5 Kilogram per square metre of artificial grass is required as infill.
Walnut shell infill is an excellent cooling emphasized option for artificial grass. Its implementation can ensure a superior cooling application to your artificial turf through its ability to absorb water but not over expand. Even during the dry season walnut shell has proven to keep cooler than crumb rubber! Walnut shell is made up of organic foodgrade components so you can have the piece of mind you’re looking for.
There is also a patent-pending process in the manufacturing of the walnut shell infill that eliminates the allergens that remain on the shell after the nut has been removed. Leaving the finished product safe and usable for your new artificial lawn!
Rubber will offer your grass a nice softness and make it feel more like natural grass. That’s because rubber has a natural bounce, which will make your grass more permeable. Rubber infill also adds volume to artificial grass, making it look fuller and more lush. Rubber infill is ideal for use in areas that receive light to moderate amounts of traffic. Lawns, play spaces, and commercial or retail spaces are some of the best locations to use rubber infill in, Despite its benefits, there are some disadvantages to rubber infill. It quickly absorbs and traps heat, which means that the infill can get very hot, and therefore, it can make the surface of your grass hot, too. It can also spread dust when it is walked on. Rubber also doesn’t kill any bacteria, and it has been found to trap small amounts of odours.
